Hi Rachy!

Course not! Hopefully someone will be long to help us out. How far along are you? I'm 30 weeks, 2nd baby and wished I had used the TENS first time around.

I used the Elle TENS both times and it was great. Whatever you choose just make sure it has a boost button to give you an extra surge during contractions, and make sure that you put it on right at the first sign of any twinges so that you get the build-up and it will be more effective.

I decided to buy rather than hire - if you buy 2nd hand on eBay you can resell and it will cost you virtually nothing.

get one where it has different levels (mine was 1-10 or 1-15, can't remember) and a boost button. Sounds obvious but there are some not specifically for labour with preset "programmes" which are not so adjustable. I hired mine from local chemist. Got it for 4wks, if you need for longer you just ring and tell them, no extra charge. TENS rocks, it was the only pain relief I used for both my labours. Good luck!

i bought a 'mama tens' which worked a treat for first birth - it has preset programmes as well as the ability to use it as you want to, also has a boost button which is a definite neccessity! Plan on using it this time round too - if and when labour actually starts, 40+1 today.

I used the obi TENS

I can highly recommend it

I gave birth using on it for painrelief and i only used it up to level 4 (with boost pressed during the birth)

I bought mine un-used on ebay for less than it would have cost to hire a machine... and i have it waiting for the next one(s) as and when they come along!

Get one that goes up to 11 Grin Wink Grin

I've got the obi tens and both me and my sister in law used it. I got to fully dialated with nothing else. Plus its one of the cheapest ones on the market and so small it has a lanyarn to hang it round your neck. And it takes 1 normal aaa battery and comes with 2.
