Will I ever go into labour?!

Sorry in advance for the rant - I'm now 42 weeks exactly and still no labour signs! I had a scan yesterday, and everything is fine. My amazing doctor gave me the mother of all sweeps, but as I was only a grand total of 1cm dilated at the time, I'm not hugely hopeful it will make any difference Sad

Please come and tell me it will happen soon, before I go completely mad! Oh, and yes I've tried everything Smile

It will happen!!! Smile But the wait is a long old process. I hope it wont be much longer now. Looks like you are most likely going to end up with an induction as most hospitals dont let you go much past 42 weeks. I was induced twice and went into natural labour once. Neither induction was traumatic at all, just used gel and that kick started everything.

Best of luck to you xx

aaaw good luck.

Ahh waiting is horrible! All I can suggest is have a really long walk and then try to sleep and rest as much as you can. My mum went 16 days overdue with me and said walking was the answer! I did is with my DS as he was overdue and it did the trick!

Thanks ladies - I was induced with DC1 so think its fairly likely, although Id at least started contracting at 40+13 then.

My doctor is happy to let me go until at least next Friday with monitoring twice this week, then she'll try another sweep. Slight backstory - she was born at term + 31 so doesn't quite have the same view on induction as many others Grin I'm praying I don't get that far Grin

my mum was 19 days late, and was talking to a lady who was 3wks late with her daughter - everybody was fine though! It WILL happen. (also what I have to keep telling myself).

.....wonder what the latest baby ever was?

Davinaaddict · 24/03/2012 12:29

The MW at the day unit told me that the latest they'd seen was 19 days too, so who knows - maybe I'll beat that record for them Confused

Sympathies to you, OP - I'm only 40+5 with my first, but can entirely see myself still being pregnant in another ten days! But it's great that everything is looking fine, and glad you don't have a doctor who is trying to alarm you into an induction when there's no medical indication at the moment. Good luck!

Thanks! Still no signs but feeling slightly more cheerful now Smile Although not sure it will last if nothing happens soon Grin
