I have had a lot of mucusy discharge this morning. It's not blood tinged but it is very thick and jelly like. Could this be my show? I'm 9 days overdue (urrrgh) and had a sweep as well as DTD with DH yesterday. The midwife said my cervix was high and hard so labour was unlikely to start yet, so I wondered if it was just something leftover from DH (for want of a better way of putting it!)

What was your show like and how long after did you go into labour?

I lost some mucus 5 days ago....no movement since. It was like I'd coughed it up to be honest - no blood, just lots of clear sticky stuff and a chunk of thicker jelly like stuff. I know plenty of people who say they never noticed a show at all...so I don't think it means much! Nothing seems to when it comes to 'when am I ACTUALLY going to have this baby'....:(

custard with raspberry jam.
about a tablespoon.

mousymouseafraidofdogs · 22/03/2012 14:48

birth started about 3 days after.

bloody snot

Hassled · 22/03/2012 14:52

long and clear and gluey. Not blood tinged at all.

Labour - not till a few days later. Sorry. And good luck!

cravingcake · 22/03/2012 15:56

Clear jelly like goop. And quite a lot of it.

My waters went 6 days later (at 38+1), baby arrived at 38+4.

Like a big ol' sneeze in my gusset. But it didn't appear till I was in labour all 3 times.

Joygirl78 · 22/03/2012 16:22

Mine sounds identical to yours OP. had some about a month ago, then more a few weeks, and now more again and I am 40+1

Cazm2 · 22/03/2012 16:54

Big lot of gloop with a brown bit in it since then lots of clear stuff! 39+5

DieDeutschLehrerin · 23/03/2012 08:35

I had clear snotty stuff on and off throughout pregnancy. My actual show was like very bloody with a few little clots in it. And there was loads of it. Had it checked at the hospital. Perfectly normal as long as it's mucusy apparently.

DieDeutschLehrerin · 23/03/2012 08:37

"Very bloody snot" - that should say. And I was in labour by that point.

mommykelly · 23/03/2012 08:42

both times it was the next day for me,
lets hope it is for youself so you dont have to be induced :)

katiegolightly · 23/03/2012 14:30

If it was a show, 1 tsp of white/snottish coloured jelly. Very 'solid' lump that dropped out into the toilet bowl. Wasn't huge amount but far more than usual daily discharge in one go. At 35w.

Sparklingbrook · 23/03/2012 14:33

Mine looked like a big poo. I had to drag the midwife into the toilet cubicle to point at it in the loo. Grin Blush

That was about 12.30am. DS1 appeared at 7.30pm

estya · 23/03/2012 14:44

It sounds like your show. Very thick and jelly like. Mine didn't look like a DH leftover (!)
Mine was 2 weeks before due date, at due date my cervix was still hard and not ready, and I was induced 11 days after due date.

Sorry to say - it doesn't necessarily mean your time is up soon. although if you are 9 days over, I think its going to happen soon one way or another.
