will understand if i dont get many responses to my post as it may be a bit tmi! since giving birth 14 weeks ago i can not for the life of me go to the toilet. it first started off with constipation then progressed to ridiculously hard stools. now i cant go without taking atleast 3 sachets of laxatives. has anybody else experienced my problem? ps. no diet problems, plenty of fruit and fibre!!

Do you feel like you need to go? After I had DD I had a haematoma in my bum (sorry if tmi!) which took about 10 days to clear. I couldn't get anything out but felt like I really needed to go. It was agony! They gave me lactulose which didn't help at all until it burst and then there was sh*t and blood everywhere! It wasn't serious and felt like a massive relief when it finally went.

from what I remember it wasn't comfortable, does it have to do with stitches and nerves? (it wasn't forever)..

i think ive got IBS now, after ive eaten i get pains in my bowels which then moves to the bottom of my tummy and i have to go (but cant) i dont know anybody else that is having my problems so i dont know what to do! if i go a day without movicol (laxatives) im in agony literally crying on the toilet. im not sure what it is, im only young and its driving me crazy!

I've had IBS it's not good. Stress was a big factor. (Mother going through second divorce, after he was gone it was fine). Have you made an appointment with a doctor?.. Because you need to!,

smearedinfood · 20/03/2012 15:39

are your lips cracked, could it be your not getting enough water, especially if you are bfing..

annieannie2 · 20/03/2012 15:54

my mum also has IBS so she thinks i do too. my doctor is rather useless ive been several times and i just get prescribed laxatives without being diagnosed with anything. my lips are fine. after my birth i suffered a 3 litre loss in blood and had to have several blood transfusions, my iron is still low and im scared that if i keep having troubles going i could end up having a prolapse as i feel so weak!

There is an iron supplement called spatone that comes in sachets that's good. Have with orange juice to help with the absorption.

Mother and baby yoga helped me de stress and also tired out lil smeared for a nap

Sorry to hear about blood loss during birth. Sounds horrid!

smearedinfood · 20/03/2012 16:02

Actually iron supplements can cause constipation. Are you on strong ones?

annieannie2 · 20/03/2012 16:22

it was horrid! ive never felt so low.. and i stopped taking my iron tablets as it made it worse but it hasnt got better since so i may as well take them to make me feel a bit better (not that they ever do)! im hoping someone is going through the same thing and can tell me what it is or what can help as im fed up!! thanks for your posts!

Poor you! It's not forever, but it's hard work with a baby when you are anaemic. Hugs!
