Does anyone know about false labour???

Ok, I'm 40+7 with second pregnancy. I woke up at 2am last night with really painful stomach cramps and regularish contractions which were becoming increasingly painful. I was the convinced I was in early labour, packed the rest of my hosp bag.

I took some paracetamol and got back in bed to try and get as much rest as possible (still having regular contractions). Dozed between contractions for awhile then just fell asleep... Obviously the contractions had stopped! This was about 5am.

What's going on? Has anyone had false labour before? I can feel te baby moving about this morning, and it defo wasnt BH's, as I've been having them regularly since about 28 weeks.

Thanks :-D

Take a look at the thread called, 'right, someone convince me...' And welcome to our club. Sorry, but this is so normal. It's not false labour, it's just labour. It stops and starts and faffs around and drives you up the wall. Come and have a moan with us, you will get much sympathy!! :)

I was like that with my little one went on for four days on the fourth day I had him. The contractions were quite bad when i was only 1cm gone. I couldnt sleep with the pain. My contractions would come on strong then ease off.
I'd get checked out just to be on the safe side. Hope this helps!

Yep, agree with Joy come and join us over there. We are all cramping/aching/leaking etc and moaning about it but also having a laugh at the same time.

I had this for 2 days with dc3, It nearly drove me mad. I kept Dh off work for the 1st day (v.long commute, previous quick labours) and was very reluctant to let him go the 2nd day, luckily it got going properly before he had to leave on the 3rd day!
I did a lot to get things going so things did pick up for a few hours then it just died down again.

yep! I m 40 plus 5 days and have had this about 3 times in the last week or so, drives you potty. Its my second too and i didn't have it with my first

I had that with my second and it went on for about 10 days. In my case when it was the real thing my contractions intensified when I walked around whereas previously they had eased off. It absolutely did my head in especially as my first I had nothing until full blown labour.
