if you had a really long first labour, how long was your second?

hope that title makes some sort of sense.
i had 30 hour labour with dd ending in emerg c sec. i am hoping to go naturally this time, but they wont let me labour more than 12 ish hours. so i am obviously hoping it will be a lot shorter than 30 hours .
so if you had a really long labour with first child , how long was your labour with 2nd child.

ta xxxxx

my 1st labour was very long, it was over 2 days (from 1st pains).
2nd labour was 11 years later, and took 2 1/2 hours!
both were natural deliverys though, not sure if a c section will make a difference on subsequent labours?

So fast I was only in hospital for about 45 mins. before giving birth and there wasn't time for pain relief aside from gas & air, which I didn't use b/c it made me sick.

DD1 - was in labour for 24 hours. She was occipito and had her hand up by her ear. I wound up needing forceps.

16 hours with my first (although had painless contractions for several hours before - was being monitored for induction but was found to be in labour already) Delivery ended with ventouse.

DS - same again - monitored for induction - was already in labour - pains lasted 6 hours start to finish this time. Totally normal delivery with just gas and air and shot of meptid at the end.

Am in the same boat as you juice, had really long labour then emerg c sec. Not pregnant at mo but hoping to conceive again this year sometime and have natural labour. How old is your dd? Was wondering if it makes any difference to having natural labour after c section depending how long scar has had to heal.

first was 27

second was 5 bad although twinges for 24 - when do they start 'counting' from?

My top tip is to have three bottles of beer when you feel twinges to chill you out - makes it go faster i reckon

first was 18 hours ended in c-section (failed to progress from 9cm) and second 3 years later was 9 hours which also ended in c-section (failed to progress from 8cm). DD was 8lb 7oz and ds was 8lb 10oz and they told me that there heads just would not fit in my pelvis but I was more than satisfied that at least I got to try after my first

My first was around 36 hours, really, would have been longer if they hadn't got the ventouse out.

Second was seven hours from waters breaking (nothing beforehand whatsoever) to baby arriving.

If you've laboured before, iyour body has been 'programmed' to do it again (as a midwife I interviewed put it); it doesn't actually matter what type of delivery you had in the end.

With dd had become part of the fixtures and fittings at the hospital, with ds they didn't have time to ask my name!
Because I had such a long labour with dd I was much more relaxed about ds and made sure I kept as mobile as possible during the day. I didn't go to the hospital until I knew I was dilated and waters broke just as we were setting off.
you'll be fine
Good luck!

With ds1 - 40 hours (I avoided a C/S by a whole 20 minutes apparently)

With ds2 - 6 hours

Stage 2 was my biggest contrast:

ds1 2 hours
ds2 8 minutes

Plus with ds1 we knew that stage 2 was coming (you know, you're 3 1/2 cm, then a hour later you're 4, then 2 hours later its 4 1/2). With ds2 I said "oh, only 3 cm. Oh well then, call the anaesthetist." While they were out of the room I went into stage 2.

15 hours for my first, which isn't long at all compared to some, but my second was only 2 hours, so dramatically less than the first.

24 hours with ds1 from start to finish, though only 6 hours of serious graft due to epidural. Ds2 was 7 hours, including a complete halt for 4 hours, followed by a birth so quick that we didn't get to the labour suite. Sure cleared the ante-natal ward though!

First labout - 30 hours - managed to find the stregnth to push her out after the doctor mentioned the dreaded c (section) word.
Second - 15 hours
Third - 7 1/2 hours
Are you noticing a pattern emerging?
Four - 14 hours - oops, there's the pattern gone to pot. I fully expected her to be born in 3 3/4 hours but it didn't work out like that.... unfortunately
