i had my 3rd CS 6wks ago. it was much more uncomfortable and recovery is slower than with the last 2. i stopped bleeding for a few days but have started again and its fresh and red (sorry tmi). i dont thinkk its my period as there are no other symptoms and im breastfeeding. did anyoneelse bleed for this long and should it still be so red?

I had a Csection a month ago and the bleeding has stopped. I was told if the bleeding became red I should contact the hospital... Think this is one for the dr

Check with the dr, but lochia can go on for 6w+, so it may be normal.

If you do too much in the weeks after birth lochia can increase, and become redder - have you been particularly busy over the last few days?

The same happened to me after my third. I assumed it was a light period or caused by sex. I'm now pregnant again so I assume it was ok...
If you're worried check it out, always the best answer, I wasn't so I didn't.

Rang the out of hrs Dr this morning as I passed a biggish clot but they said its normal. Still not convinced. Might see my own Dr tomorrow.

I got my period after my last section at exactly 6 weeks which my consultant said was textbook.

i have had a busy week but with my last 2 cs i didnt have a period 4 11 months as o was bf. guess im not as lucky this time.

I bled for 8 weeks after a cs - I didn't think it would ever stop. Periods came back after about 14/16 weeks even though I was breastfeeding.

The lochia definatley increased/bright red if I did too much, which was really doing anything more than pottering around house

not too concerned that its been 6 wks. just more that it stopped and restarted and the change in colour. even if it is a period im still concerned at the clot. it was as big as a 50p and i felt it (sorry if tmi again)

Did the hospital give you a helpline to call after the CS? I was told if I passed a clot as big as 50p piece to contact them.

It doesn't sound right, with my last EMCS I stopped bleeding after 4 weeks and didn't have a period until 6 months afterwards. I just had my second EMCS two weeks ago and bleeding is very light and not red at all now.

mumnosbest · 11/03/2012 23:35

no helpline. midwife discharged us and i think HV is more for dd not me. i called the out of hrs dr but was made to feel a bit silly. she said its normal. i know all pgs are diff but wasnt expecting a period for at least a few months and never had one like this.

Have you been overdoing it? I have only had 1 cs but the bleeing tailed off and then restarted at about 6 weeks, it was red and clotty and I had been rushing about too much. I didn't get my periods back until 8 months.

You are still healing, take it easy

i have been busy. dh been working evenings leaving me with 3 dcs. i also started driving again which felt fine and makes life easier but probably doesnt help. ive had an easier weekend and the bleeding has slowed but then so would a period.
