Hi All, I've been thinking of getting an independent midwife but not sure if I can at all afford it! Does anyone know how much approximately they charge? I'm in the south west. Thanks!

£3k to £4k usually. In London. May well be less outside the capital. That would be for a full package of care.

wow, thanks! I think I will try a doula then! :)

This says £3250

OP I have been in contact with Devon and Cornwall Independent Midwives. Google them. They quoted me 2750 for a first-time home birth with pool.

They sounded very good but I probably can't afford it Sad

I paid £3000. It's worth speaking to them about payment though. The ones I used took a deposit and then I paid an amount each time my Maternity Allowance was paid. It's not like you have to have it all up front iykwim. They were very happy to discuss options, be flexible and iirc they were happy for payment to be over a couple of years (though I paid quicker than that)
