Help(tmi alert)! How do you know if it's waters or discharge?

Hi everyone does anyone know how I can tell if I just had discharge or if my waters have started to go? I was walking up the stairs and felt 'stuff' come out, went to the loo and there was a bit more show (this started coming out yesterday) but also a wet patch about the size of a piece of a tissue, just wet rather than slimy but obviously discharge can sometimes be like that... Gosh this is so tmi, sorry but can anyone help?

Put a pad on

If it has no smell and is a pinkish colour it could be waters. Put a pad on and keep an eye and if you're unsure see a hcp

Thank you - I don't think it was my waters going as although there was a bit more in the night, it's stopped now. Am 39+4 and on tenterhooks! And I thought the 2ww symptom spotting stage was bad!

If you have any concerns it could be worth seeing if you can maybe see a mw and get her to check? Your waters can leak just a trickle and not be that noticeable. I had absolutely no idea it could be that unnoticeable until it happened to me! I'd thought it was just the last bits of my show over a few days but turns out it was waters. (And sorry - when I was pg I hated people who jumped on threads with bad news but now I know random things do happen and are worth checking out!) But if you're happy it really is quite mucousy then it sounds like your show

Thanks Bella - I'll keep an eye on it, there hasn't really been anymore - although I'm now really hoping they haven't gone as me and DH have been quite 'busy' trying to get him out... Going to try and see MW sooner rather than later anyway as pgp is crippling me!
