Help(tmi alert)! How do you know if it's waters or discharge?

Hi everyone does anyone know how I can tell if I just had discharge or if my waters have started to go? I was walking up the stairs and felt 'stuff' come out, went to the loo and there was a bit more show (this started coming out yesterday) but also a wet patch about the size of a piece of a tissue, just wet rather than slimy but obviously discharge can sometimes be like that... Gosh this is so tmi, sorry but can anyone help?

I can't really answer. All I know is that I had an episode where fluid was gushing, really gushing down my leg when I got out of bed one morning. Went in to be checked and was told it wasn't waters, it was discharge. I hate to think what the hell type of discharge I had that was like niagra falls but anyway. They were adamant that's what it was Hmm.

So, going by that it sounds like "discharge" although you've probably sorted it by now if it was anything else.
