Suggestions for pre-birth relaxation aids

I'm asking this on behalf of my friend who is 34 weeks with DC2. DC1 was a traumatic birth, ending in EMCS under GA. Prior to TTC DC1 she had a fear of childbirth and after the trauma of DC1, this has intensified. She is a lovely friend and I want to buy her a gift when she starts her mat leave, so I was thinking it might be a nice idea to get her something to help her to relax either before the birth or give her some techniques to use during labour. I'm thinking a book or CD of relaxation techniques, some music, maybe some oils/something nice to spray and use during labour... well, I don't know really! Any advice gratefully received.

Why don't you go round a few days before due date (if not too late) and bring lunch, a good dvd and just spend some time with her (could she get someone else to look after DC1?). this would take her mind off things for a bit hopefully!

i'm just thinking of something i would have loved.

if you want to buy "something" then neal's yard do a whole range of oils including ones which are ok during pregnancy. one of these and an oil burner, or fan diffuser would be nice too. but i do think that time with other people is the best thing.

Oh Poppadum that's a lovely idea - thanks!
