Are these contractions?

My whole bump starts getting very hard, which is followed by an ache in my lower belly just above my pubic bone, then the ache goes away but, the bump is still very hard and then it finally softens.
Anyone?
This is my first LO, and I'm a bit at lost.

sre you still in one piece?

sounds like a contraction but could also be braxton hicks -how far along are you?

Sounds more like BH than proper Ctx to me.
Proper Ctx for me were quite a lot like menstral cramps.

lol, you are entitled to a bit of that

for me early labour felt like a dragging sensation in my lower back and across the top of my thighs, and then turned into the tightenings you describe but everyone is different

got alot of BH in the 3 days before I actually went into labour and made the mistake of thinking 'this could be it' so didn't get alot of rest which was a BIG mistake!

good luck x

they were BH, had an appointment with the midwife and she told me that the ache that I was feeling is LO's head pressing against my cervix

Ahh, hopefully not too long to go then...sounds like your body is gearing up! I had bh contractions for about 8 days before the real thing started, but you'll know when its time x
