Labour the second time around

Hello all,

sorry if this has been done already but I wanted to ask about labour the second time around.

With DS, I had a horrible labour and ending up having an EMCS (DS almost didn't make it).
I got to about 5-6 cms dilated but obviously didn't have a VB.

I've been reading lots of stories that childbirth is much quicker the second time around but is this the case after a c-section?
Has anyone experienced this?

TIA

I had a terrible first labour, induced, had a 24h labour, didn't get past 4 cm and then had an EMCS.

2nd labour was much better - 2.5 weeks before my due date, 7.5 hour labour, gave birth vaginally, no tears or scratches.

Hi, thanks for your response.

Sorry to hear about your first experience.

I'm glad to hear to you had a better birth the second time around :)
It's reassuring.

Hi - I didn't have a section with my first but it was a pretty difficult forceps delivery. DC2 was a great birth - about 8 hours in total but I'd say about 2 hours of established labour followed by 20 mins of pushing. If you've had a tough first labour I'd strongly recommend Ina May's book on childbirth. It helped me a lot with DC2.

Thanks for your response WombonTheBroom (like the name BTW).

It's good to hear you had a great second birth.
Thanks, I''ll have a look online for the book :)
