Hi there - I am 40+6 and have been planning a homebirth. I have been offered a propess pessary at 40+11 (if baby hasn't made an arrival by then). Apparently, all going well, i should be able to go home once the pessary has been administered and should be able to have a homebirth. However, from what i've read about others' experiences with the propess pessary, such inductions usually seem to end in an emcs. So, i'm not sure whether to go ahead with it or not...

I would be grateful to hear anybody elses experiences with the propess pessary! Thank you!

I was so worried about being induced, and the midwife had booked me in to hospital later in the week when my DD decided to show up at 40+7! So I got my homebirth (and again for DS) Yipee. Not that this information helps you, other than there is still time for you to not need the pessary.

A friend of mine got g iven a pessary when she went in to be induced 2 weeks early due to high blood pressure and then had a very straight forward labour and birth with no other help needed.

Whatever route you decide I think it is so important that you stay positive and have faith in yourself to deliver your baby. Good luck, I hope you have a good home delivery as planned. Brew

I had a very straightforward pessary induced birth at 40 weeks. I was in hospital but I would have been fine at home.

Good luck, hope it all goes well.
