Do you need a liner with La Bassine? And would you recommend one?

I'm looking at getting one of these pools for DC2's birth. I used a BPIAB last time, that my doula lent me, and I liked it. But I'm not having a doula this time, so I'm getting my own, and I like the look of La Bassine.

I was hoping to buy one second hand, but they're not that cheap on ebay anyway, and adding the cost of a new liner on makes them almost the same price as buying new.

Last time I had a liner, but I scrubbed and miltoned the pool anyway after I'd used it, and I think that that would be all that would happen to a hospital pool so it's probably good enough if I do it very thoroughly.

Has anyone used one without?

TIA :)

Sorry, the "would you recommend one?" is meant to be about La Bassine pools in general.

Hi,

I used a La Bassine. Though I haven't tried any other make of pool to compare it to, I was happy with it. I liked the fact that the bottom of the pool was inflatable to provide cushioning for my knees as we have wooden floors.
I used a liner, made clearing up easier afterwards.

Keep looking on E bay, I sold mine a few months ago for 50.00 with all the kit.

Hth. Smile

Thank you! I'm bidding on one at the moment which is at £50 (though with a long old drive to collect, so we'll have to have a nice day out :) ) and includes a liner as it didn't get used in the end. So fingers crossed.

Glad to here it was nice to use. Thanks again :)

I haven't personally used a la bassine but jhave had 3 home water births and never used a liner, milton before and after as you say, and the babes and I haven't had any problems
Hope it all goes to plan for you

when i bought my la bassine they didn't even make liners for them as they said they were unnecessary! i think they do make them now as people kept asking for them.

i used mine twice, without a liner, and tbh really can't see why you would need one.
like you say, you just clean it out well after use!

I got mine on ebay, and then sold it for more than I paid for it!

eek, I just got mine from ebay, bargain, has liner ( not used as woman had breech) but don't know if i am going to use it... thought about selling it on ebay actually.. I heard they didnt make them to start with ( as not needed) but just coz bpinab has liners ppl kept requesting them.... good luck btw!
( mine was £46 on Ebay- planning to blow it up and try it out tomorrow...)

Thanks everyone.

Well if I win one with a liner, great, but if not I'll just Milton it thoroughly. Especially if most of these pools really haven't been used like people are claiming!

thegauntlet - if I don't win the one I'm bidding on I'll let you know, just in case you do decide to sell yours!
