My dream is to do an intervention-free waterbirth, but am having trouble deciding between Edgware (where 70% of the births are water births and they seem to have excellent and knowledgeable midwives) or a teaching hospital such as UCH (Elizabeth Garrett Andersen) and Chelsea Westminster.
The only reason I am not 100% convinced by Edgware is because if something went wrong, I would be transferred to Barnet Chase hospital, and I would not get one-to-one midwife care there, whereas one-to-one care is guaranteed at UCH or CW. Plus, the latter two have 44 neonatal intensive care units available on the premises, so that seems safer for the baby should things get unpredictably complicated.
Can any of you help? Have any of you given birth at any of these 3 places or faced similiar dilemmas?
