Positive induction stories

Im currently in a hospital waiting for a room to become free so I can be induced. My waters broke 24 hrs ago and they're keen to get things started.

I'd love to hear any positive stories about induction to help me pass the time!

I don't have any stories for you, but I didn't want to leave your post unanswered.

I hope it all goes swimmingly.

Congratulations, you'll meet your lovely new little person soon :)

Is this your first child?

Moobee · 13/01/2012 23:58

Thanks Soexcited! It is my first, so I'm nervous and excited. I thought it was probably too late to post this, but at the rate this is going, I may still be here waiting when everyone wakes up in the morning...

Think I can help with a positive story - induced with DS at 40+12, labour started 4 hours after first pessary. Four hours of gradually more painful contractions followed by four hours 'full blown' labour. 9lb 2oz DS born with just TENS/G&A and no stitches. No drips/instruments/further interventions. Was better than I thought it might be, especially for a first baby, and certainally far better than I thought induction might turn out.

I was waiting for a room for ages too, but it was in the middle of the day. Worked out well though because they ended up putting me in a room on my own (think they felt guilty about how long we'd been waiting!)which I went back to following the birth, so no post-natal ward either - bonus!

Very best of luck to you - come back and let us know how you get on Smile.

How's it going, you got a room yet?

Moobee · 14/01/2012 00:38

Lovely story ISpy! I hope I have a similar experience. :)

Thanks for those links soexcited, I'm on my phone with limited signal so it wa hard to search. I'll go and read them now.

I am getting occasionally rythmic back aches so things might be starting, you never know. I've not got a delivery room yet, but they've given us a visitors room to ourselves and made us tea which is nice. Hope that doesn't mean I'm here for the long haul but it might. It does mean DH can sleep on the sofa which I'm grateful for as we were here last night too until 4am so they could confirm my waters had broken. He's already knackered from work and he has to be the driver.

Baby is still moving quite vigorously so I feel happy they're ok.

Oh yes, I heard them say they had 6 admissions in the last 10mins so I do feel for the staff here. Originally they told me to come in at 8am tomorrow but changed their mind when I phoned them. Perhaps it would have been better to stick to plan A.

Good luck Moobee, hope it all goes well for you Grin

I've got one for you.

Two inductions, first one I had pessary and waters broken, contractions started quickly and were painful but okay. DS1 was born after three hours twelve minutes with no intervention necessary.

Second one, just needed my waters breaking, DS3 was born in an hour and twenty nine minutes, no pain relief or intervention at all.

The worst bit about both times was that I was knackered ad like you, I was waiting ages for a delivery room to become available and couldn't sleep with nerves/excitement. Try and rest a little (I know, I know impossible) eat something for energy.

Whatever happens you'll have a gorgeous baby soon. Lots of luck.

Moobee · 14/01/2012 01:12

Thanks Boysinthehood! I hope mine goes as quick as yours. I've been waiting for a room for almost two hours now. :( I found a table I thought I could nap on, but my bump is in the way when I lean forward.

I will get to find out soon if this little baby that likes to do star jumps every evening is a boy or a girl.
