Anyone requested birth notes? (Kingston Hospital)

I've just requested a copy of my maternity notes from a few years ago...in anticipation of getting pregnant again and understanding all that happened last time better! It was long and difficult labour...though I am not traumatised if you know what I mean. This is for my information and curiosity only!

Has anyone done this?
If so...how long did it take to come through (they say up to 40days online)?
...and were you able to 'translate' the labour notes without a medical bckground?

Thanks...

How interesting! I didn't know you could do this easily?? I am in the same boat as you - horrible prolonged labour but like you, I wasn't traumatised as such. Though must admit am feeling very anxious about the thought of doing it again. How did you request them and do you have to have specific reasons? I think this might help me too - or maybe put me off forever! Grin
Sorry I am offering no help whatsoever to your post, but am watching with interest!

Phone there medical records dept, they will copy all your notes for about £ 10, should only take About a week.

I did this but it was a bit of a bureaucratic tangle and took two attempts to actually get the notes (a matter of months rather than days, but was hopefully just a one-off mix-up). Best thing is to call the hospital direct and ask for the medical records department, as the info on the website seemed to be out of date when I tried (although this was a couple of years ago). I found the notes incredibly useful, although it was sometimes difficult to read the handwriting and I had to do a bit of googling for some of the abbreviations. Worth doing.

Oh, and everyone is entitled to a copy of their medical records (on payment of a small fee for photocopying); you don't need to give a reason.
