Mild contractions 6 mins apart...

Does this mean I'm in labour or could it be a false alarm? My due date is this Thursday so I guess it could be a possibility. It's my second baby but had my first nearly 7 years ago so can't remember what it was like!

I'd say it sounds like the start of something. Have you had any other signs? Loss of plug etc?

SwedishMumInLondon · 10/01/2012 11:20

No, but woke up with period like pains this morning but thought nothing of it... So while contractions are mild and far apart they have been regular for the past couple of hours. Not quite sure when to call the midwife? It seems too soon still?

I used this website when I was in labour which helped me follow the contractions and I phoned the labour ward once contraction were about 4 mins apart/45 secs long and I'd had a bath to make sure they didn't go away (and I was in too much discomfort to stay at home). I had no other signs and my waters and plug only went about 5 or 10 mins before DD2 was born, so I wouldn't necessarily wait until then.

Thanks! Definitely getting more intense now though still about 6-7 min apart

Post birth tips from mum of three

  1. take lactulose as a matter of course
  2. big fat maternity pads (they are comfy)
  3. few packs of bid asda knickers - just chuck them out
  4. pre soak pads with a few drops of tea tree oil - wonderful
  5. keep a sports water bottle next to tap, everytine you wee put a few drops of tea tree oil, fill with warm water and direct while seeing then pat dry

Excellent recovery.
