Water birth and music

Hope this is the right place to ask. I'm hoping to have a water birth again and am thinking that this time I'd like to take some music with me. But obviously my iPod and water are not very compatible. Nor do I want to spend loads on a waterproof case that will most likely be used only once. What did you do for headphones (I'm planning to take an old pair with me) and to protect your ipod/mp3 player/whatever?

One possibility is to give it to DH and tell him his job is to make sure it doesn't get wet...but he might not be there.

What about investing in a cheap ipod dock/bluetooth speaker which you can set up?

I've bought one of these for the same purpose:

My hospital had a cd player in the birthing pool room, and we were allowed to bring in music. Maybe you could find out if they have that where you are planning to give birth, and they you could burn a couple of cds to take with you.

I do gave a set of speakers actually (set up in DS's room for his lullabies) but was thinking it would be easier to shut everything out if I was using headphones if that makes sense. Plus which DH won't be able to laugh at what I'm listening to...
