Csection scar?

xkatyx · 07/01/2012 15:18

Hi

I had a elective csection 2 weeks and 3 days ago with my twins.

My scar is doing well but in the right corner there is a tiny hole/sunk in skin? And it's slightly weeping. It's tiny.

The scar is slightly sore still too

Does this all sound normal??

Im so desperate to get back to normal but my body isn't having any of it.

what stiches did you have?

Gribble · 07/01/2012 16:39

my scar still hurts (and not just slightly) 3 months later and was a bit weepy / crusty for about the first 2 months. Doc said all perfectly normal.

Does your tummy feel hot / warm near the holey bit? Hows your temperature?

YankNCock · 07/01/2012 16:43

This might sound odd, but can you get someone to get very close and have a sniff of it? That was my first clue I was getting an infection in my CS scar.

mosschops30 · 07/01/2012 16:45

You might have an infection there.
The less said about my cs and scar the better but mine opened and leaked fluid because it was infected, with antibiotics and good daily dressing it healed in about 3 weeks.
Dont rush yourself, it took me almost a year to recover from my CS and i still have problems now, but it shouldnt be like that for you, mine was from other things

Meglet · 07/01/2012 16:50

It sounds normal, but get someone to check it's not infected. You won't feel that good just yet. Maybe in another month you should feel fairly well healed up, as long as you rest.

Is the sunk in bit where the drain was? I still have a big dimple 5 yrs on.

AlpinePony · 07/01/2012 17:00

I've got a dimples at one end of mine, no infection, just perhaps stitched tighter?

FutureNannyOgg · 07/01/2012 17:27

I had something similar, it was like it was healed underneath, but the top opened, only about half a cm. I showed the Dr when I had my 6 week checkup, she reassured me it was fine. I would suggest you show it to the mw or Dr for the same reassurance.

kreechergotstuckupthechimney · 07/01/2012 17:35

I had a dimple at each end because of the beads that the doctor used to close the opening.
Ten years on, I imagine it's still dimpled. Can't see due to my gigantic stomach. It does itch still though.

RollerCola · 07/01/2012 17:39

It does sound normal but if it's weeping a bit it may be slightly infected so I'd get it checked out. Mine is still sunken in in the middle 5 years on so that bits def normal, and it did ache a bit for a good year or more after.

StoneBaby · 07/01/2012 17:40

As said above, is it red and warn to the touch? It may be infected. I would get it checked anyway especially as you worry about it

charlie7 · 07/01/2012 18:47

I had my c section just over 2 weeks ago and the exact same thing had happened to mine! I was given antibs a week ago just in case it was an infection, but I don't think they have done anything really. The doctor I saw two days ago said it was fine and I think it is gradually getting better.
I know what u mean about wanting to get back to normal, I am desperate to as well. Though I do think the more i do the worse my scar is- unfortunately!
Probably just a matter of time for both of us- sorry!

xkatyx · 07/01/2012 18:58

Thank u all. I had disolvable stitches.

Defenetly not hot, itchy or smelly.

Yes dimpled that is a better description instead of hole lol

This was my first csection so I worry as don't know what to exsoect and dh goes back to work soon and I want to be able to get on as I have 3 other children. I never realized how hard the recovery is, I just worried about the initial operation.

Also I never had a drain.

Hi xKatyx

I too had a c section on Friday 30 Dec (mine was an emergency due to placenta abruption, a uterine tear and a baby in distress!)

My scar bleeds/weeps now and again but this is less as each day passes. My MW visited yesterday as we were only discharged from hospital on Thursday 5 Jan. She said mine was looking good and 'normal'. She did ask if I had a swab taken. I remember seeing a swab kit but can't remember if it was taken. Not sure if my memory is fizzy due to pethidine, spinal, TRAUMA?!?!

I have a question if someone can answer:

Can I have a bath? if so, what do you recommend I use to aide healing? My MIL says salt.

Mum2be79 · 07/01/2012 22:39

By the way I had a drain (lost almost 2 litres of blood) - utter agony when taken out!

Chubfuddler · 07/01/2012 22:42

I had a bath three days after my c section. Don't put any bubble bath in though.

traceyinrosso · 07/01/2012 22:48

get it swabbed, mine didn't smell or discharge but just wasn't healing totally and I had an infection. Mum2be79 I agree about the pain removing a drain - thought I was going to pass out then midwife said I could pull it out under her supervision and that was much better. Survived 3 sections now but really don't want another that's my childbearing done (hopefully!)

I was told to have a lovely bath also. But to be honest I don't have much time so it's usually a shower.

Ouch I must say those drains sound awful, the lady next to me had one and the screams when they were trying to get it out made me feel faint!!! Does anyone know why u have one of those?

I also lost alot of blood 1.5 leters, I though that was bad enough but 2 leters, you must of felt awful!!

I'm goin to go doctors Tom just to be sure, it hasn't got any worse but just to rest my mind.
