Questions about Arnica and Witch Hazel

What kind of arnica tablets should I get to help after the birth? I have found some 200Cs on Amazon. Would they be fine? What did everyone else use?

Also, I keep reading that witch hazel on a maternity pad would help with healing? In which form should I buy it? Are we talking about the pure witch hazel stuff or does it come in a cream or similar?

TIA

I used Arnica 30c. Just took them every few hours for 5 days. I think they helped.

I used normal, liquid witch hazel from Boots. I don't think it's a good idea to put creams on stitches.

I also found some drops of lavender oil in the bath helped too.

Yeap 200 for arinca, 30 is for more minor things

All the witch hazel I can find in Boots is in the skin care section for spots in the form of gel and toner etc..

It's kept with the alternative remedy stuff or, weirdly, next to the anti-histamines depending on how the shop's set up. If you can't find it on the shelf ask at the medicines counter. Alternatively, if you live in a rural Welsh university town I can direct you to it ;)

Arnica with a C on the 'dose' is homeopathic, ie there's no arnica in there so it depends on whether you believe there's any point in taking water.
However traditional chemists keep 10% arnica solution with their old-fashioned remedies like castor oil and witch hazel, and it's also cheap.

I swabbed lots of arnica on the enormous bruise I got from a hasty intramuscular injection and the 4-inch bruise disappeared in a couple days. I didn't use anything other than warm water on my stitches as they were painless by day 2, as I was advised to ask for an expert, certainly not a student, to do them, and MWs were very impressed by them!

notcitrus where can you buy 'real' arnica?

My local independent chemist had it - as I said, it tends to be with the castor oil, olive oil, bottles of witch hazel solution.
No idea about witch hazel though my dad used to use it on anything.

We use arnica cream on DS's many bumps. no idea if it helps but I guess it distracts him!

The only other stuff i have ever seen is the homeopathic 'no arnica included' tablets, so might keep an eye out for the solution, thanks notcitrus.
