Hi - can anyone provide good or bad experiences of Midwife led deliveries at the portland in recent times?

I had DD there under MLD in 2008. It was fab, I can't fault it at all. There was one MW I didn't like and she was also the one I ended up with when I delivered Sad she called me a baby and didn't believe me when I told her the epidural didn't work and therefore had a very very traumatic birth experience. BUT other than that everything was great Smile

Are you being serious?!

Good lord banana, it certainly has changed since 2005. When I had DS in 2005 all the midwives were fabulous. I recently had no 2 under a consultant led delivery so I cant comment on what it is like now.

It was just a blip rollerbaby! I just ended up with the one bad egg. The others are fabulous, honestly!!! And I needed forceps which made everything traumatic which was nothing to do with MLD.

I see! Well that is good to hear, thank you!

I dont have any personal experience of that but i went on a tour there very recently, the mw and a couple of others we saw during the tour were really lovely and soooo friendly and supportive- obviously i wasnt in labour at the time though! I have had the misfortune of having terrible midwife care ( lack of! at my local hosp) so clearly the standards here (staffing and facilities) are worlds apart! i cant wait to have my baby at the portland in the spring:-)
