Is it easier 2nd time round?

I am not sure if this posting is a good idea or not, but am going to go with it anyway...
I felt quite traumatised after the birth of DD and swore NEVER AGAIN, but now she is 12 weeks old and such a darling and I am even missing being pregnant a little bit, as that was a lovely time and a fairly easy ride for me SO I am thinking that maybe a second go shouldn't be completely ruled out.
I would like to hear about other peoples experiences the 2nd time around. Any easier?

First, PE and Induction followed by 48 hours of slow labour and emcs due to bp. Dream baby, 9 weeks sleeping through the night, fabulous and easy going. Still absolutely adorable.

Second, failed epidural, pita of a ride once in hospital as I had to sit still to be monitored, 15 hours in hospital in total, 1 push - literally.
dc2 non sleeping menace, did first night over a year old sweet and adorable though -now starting to sleep 4 out of 7 nights, and does this adorable smile that makes you not want to knock him out for keeping you awake for months on end Grin

That is my convoluted way of saying birth was much easier - child, well its what you make of it I reckon - I made my first few months stressful for no reason at all.........

Loving this thread. Just started ttc no.2 and am very nervous after a horrible birth experience with no.1. Doesn't help that all the women I know who've had a second baby recently have said it was quicker but still excruciating, and none of them managed to get an epidural although they wanted one.

I am so envious of the lucky ones.

I am so glad I posted now. Think I will keep bumping this thread to the top for the next couple of years until I am ready for a second, by which time it should be full of positive and motivational posts like these. :)
howlong- I did the full hypnobirthing course and felt ready to take on the world prior to the birth, but due to being 16 days(!) overdue, all things natural were taken away from me and taking the same action as dontlaugh got me nothing but grief, due to a midwife who was a complete bitch difficult.
Best of luck mamarara, come back and let us know how it goes.

Thanks, due in the next few days and the fear has well and truly set in!
Hopefully I'll come back next week and tell you I just sneezed it out...

Thanks for all your stories - really great to hear them. And nice one for the OP olives, it had been on my mind for about 8 and a half months!

Most of my friends have had a second DC now, and without exception, the second births were much quicker and easier.

However, the second pregnancies were in general much harder. From sickness, hyperemisis, spd, miscarriage, antenatal anxiety and depression, gestational diabetes, suspected premature labour through to breast cancer, nobody seemed to have a straightforward second pregnancy.

Im the same, my DD is 4weeks old and while i was pregnant and in labour i swore id never want to do this againg but now me and my partner are already talking baby number 2 names!! I had a very easy labour within 3 days i couldnt even noticed id just given birth plus the fact i lost every inch of tummy and weight after 3 days so it does make it a bit more inviting to do all over again (hoping i dont jinx myself and have a bad 2nd time)... I hope your 2nd time is alot easyer :)
