Misoprostol used to minimise PPH risk - anyone with any experience?

I've had two PPHs in the past (500-600ml loss each time), so my consultant is recommending that I have misoprostal administered immediately post-partum.

Having read up on the drug post appointment I'm now worrying that I'm going to have significant uterine pain as a result. Id be really interested to hear from anyone who's taken this to prevent/ treat PPH.

Have you been badly affected by the pph's? Did you need a blood transfusion? 500-600mls is not a serious pph. Most places don't even consider you having a 'proper' pph until 1000mls. If you managed with no ill effect, I would stick with a usual actively managed 3rd stage.

I was gonna say that 600 is not that much. More than 1000mls would be significant. Remember you give 500mls when you go and give blood.

Misoprostol is only normally given to control excessive bleeding, I understand.
