that my sweep will work....
I was admitted to hospital yesterday (am 39+4) and stayed overnight as my SPD was so bad I couldn't weight bare and walk so they kept me in so I would be seen quicker, also I was having period cramp contractions, these ramped up during the night and was monitored for 1 1/2 hours where they were quite regular and strong (about 5mins apart) then about 1am they started to get weaker and since then they have been irregular...I am now home on crutches but before I left the midwife examined me because of the tightenings and that baby is now fully into my pelvis, she said cervix was closed and was about 1cm tubular, but she tried to sweep as well as she could, she said it wasn't as good as she would like but I would know in 24-48 hours...so what do you think??? I am still having contractions but still irregular, bump feels ever so bruised from the intensity of the contractions so far, but just wanted to know whether I should bother to feel positive or not!! Hmm the sweep wasn't at all painful and have read on other threads that if it isn't painful then body was ready for it and therefore it may be more successful??!!?? any info/advice/experiences will be gratefully received :) thanks ladies x

No actual experience but my (slightly lentil weaver-y) suggestion is to be hopeful that it worked and visualise your cervix opening. I'm quite a big believer in mind over matter so if your mind is visualising labour starting, maybe that'll give it a helping hand. Hope things get moving for you soon.

Thanks for replying! Well I'm just coming up to the start of the 24 hours so we shall see! Wink
