Due on 6th, but just had a show. Supposed to be at a funeral today - would you go?

It's an hours drive away into East London and starts at 11. I really want to go as I'll see relatives I've not seen for ages. The funeral is for my very elderly great aunt - so a positive funeral, not a tragedy. I also want to show off my 2.5 yr old.

But I've just had a show and now feel a bit jumpy at the thought of being caught out. But still really want to go. What would you do?

Any twinges?
Is there a hospital nearby - take your notes, you can turn up anywhere.
How speedy was your first labour and what warning did you get?

Based on my labours (sedate with plenty of warming up time IYSWIM), I would go if I felt up to it.

Same as soup my shows were never just prior to labour but it depends on yours and how you feel.

You just need to be ready to go to hospital at any time. I had a show at 8am and ds was born at 1:30pm!

My last labour I had a show in the morning then went into labour about 12 - 15 hours later. Such a massive dilemma. Will phone my mum and see what she says!

Is it your first? I had a bit of a show about a week beforehand with my DS - just a very small smudge of pinkish goo.

Had much more of the same the morning of my due date, went into labour that night!

Personally I'd risk it if it means a lot to you to be there.

Grumpla · 01/12/2011 08:44

Oh sorry just saw it's not your first! Should have read more carefully.

What time are you due to go?

lukewarmmama · 01/12/2011 08:46

Yes, I would go (unless you had a fast labour last time?). But take your notes....

ASuitableGirl · 01/12/2011 08:49

My show with DD was about a week before she was born.

I would go to the funeral, take your notes with you and be prepared for anything to happen.

Thank you for your help everyone - have now decided not to go as I've had a few cramps so better stay close to home. Boooring!

Well, boooring...but maybe exciting too! Good luck.

don't forget to put your birth on the advent babies thread

good luck
(and I wouldn't have gone either - not without someone who could do the driving)
