Contraction like pain 5 months after giving birth??? help!

Yesterday I started to get a pain very similar to what I experienced in labour, I know after pains are common but at 5 months post delivery is a bit much is it not??

I had a normal birth and had an epidural which wore off twice which resulted in me feeling my contractions down one side only.

The pain is around the left side of my back and and down my left leg and feels exactly like my contraction pain, albeit not as bad, if my contraction pain was a 10 (more like 20) on the scale this is like a 5/6. I had after pains for a few days after birth, and during the first time we had sex i felt a similar pain to this but that was 3.5 months ago.

the pain is back now and it started this time yesterday evening too and lasted for a few hours.

Wondering has anyone had anything similar??

how odd - i had this 2 months after birth and assumed it was my uterus giving its last little wiggle back into shape, but at 5 months it is a bit odd.

Have your periods returned yet? Could it be something to do with that?

I think you should check it out with the gp just to make sure you havn't got an infection or anything nasty - especially as it is quite painful.

poor you,

Yeah periods came back pretty quick, had the last one over a wk ago, although it was really long usually 2-3 days but was about 6 days. but other than that nothing unusual.

Poor me is right motherpanda- like I really want to be reminded of that pain again!! (also got a hangover so feeling a bit sorry for myself!) Sad

is there any chance you could have been pregnant and had a miscarriage? I know nothing about this, just contraction feelings and longer than usual period pointed me in that direction.

Do get checked out won't you?

I've been getting them too! DS is 14 weeks! It's weird, thought they'd be long gone!

Hello mums,

I am 4 months into post pregnancy and breastfeeding full time, 2 weeks ago I started to experience contraction like pain since then I have been felling this pain everyday mostly in the evening for 5 min and then it goes away and I don’t understand why, I went to the hospital too regarding the pains and they said nothing is wrong I am fine and that it could just mean that my period will start soon. Period still not started and I am still getting the pains I am having this pain right now as I type. Most of the time it’s just so unbearable I feel like crying. It doesn’t happen when I breastfeed because I recall Similar pain in my first 2 weeks of post pregnancy I was told it’s the uterus contracting back to to it’s original place but then eventually it’s stopped and now I am in my 4th month and it’s started again 2 weeks ago.
