For the last 24 hours, baby has been moving to excess, and 'grinding' down. I've also felt col-like symptoms, and pretty much spent all afternoon lying down. Over the past 4/5 hours, ive felt twinges, but very sporadic and not particularly painful. I've also felt naseuous, resulting in some pretty horrific vomiting within te last hour.

Im 37+1, and due in work tomorrow, but have just called and said I wont be in, mainly as I feel pretty shitty, rather than thinking 'i'll be in labour soon' (24 hour business so manager always there)

Had a small 'show' last week, no pinkness, and though I have what I think are BH, lots of times my belly has been rock hard and 'rippling', they've not been painful (I really expected to have felt some pain)

What would be your opinion? Wishful thinking on my part that things are kicking off, or am I potentially still weeks away?

I was told time and again towards the end of my last pregnancy that I'd 'know' when I was in labour. Sorry this isn't going to be of massive help to you, but I really did know I went from weeks of BH, many of them in the week before labour were so painful and lasting long enough for me to wonder if it was labour. At some points in days leading up to the real thing I was timing them and they were coming 5 minutes apart only to stop again. When I was in labour I definitely knew it was the real deal. The last few weeks are so irritating aren't they, just waiting for the main event. I'm thinking you may be a while longer but fingers crossed anyway, good luck

Thanks for the reply, Cowboys, wishful thinking on my part probably! Everything's so new and unknown, wish everyone's pregnancy/labour was 'textbook'

I don't know, vomiting can be a sign of your digestive system clearing everything out the way in preparation. How are you feeling now LikeACandle? Has the vomiting stopped? You could have also picked up a tummy bug - I had one the other week, they're definitely going round.

Your thread title sounds like a clue for a cryptic crossword :o
