dear mums, does anyone have experience with Dr Roshni Patel and the Kensington wing? She's quite new there and I didn't see any feedback or references about her? How are Dr Keith Duncan and Dr Roger Marwood? Any advice is welcome. thanks so much

Keith Duncan is great, my sister has been with him. Don't know the others.

No experience of Dr Patel. I personally didn't hit it off with K Duncan - he did my cvs and although I would not critise him in his ability at all, I just didn't feel comfortable with him. I think he was having an off day as he was better for following scans but I didn't want him delivering me. I was in the care of Zoe Penn but Mark Johnson delivered me and if I was having another I would go back to Mark Johnson in a heartbeat.

Have heard good things about Gubby too.

FImum · 15/12/2011 15:28

Dr. Patel is wonderful. She was always available for my questions (I'm probably not the easiest patient being a doctor also) and it seemed as though nothing was too much trouble. She has young children herself and I think that made her very sympathetic to all my needs and concerns.
Absolutely no reservations in recommending her, I feel lucky to have found her and will definitely book with her again.

Mogeen,

Have heard wonderful things about the kensington wing. However, two friends who were there under Nick Wales and Mark Johnson were not delivered by their OBs because ther were 'away' for the weekend. Similary to what Okie said about her being with Zoe Penn but being delivered by Johnson.

Not sure if this is standard practice but would ask about the chances of not being delieverd by one's own consultant at the Kensington Wing. There does seem to be some a lot of rotating there. I delivered at the Lindo and personally would have been seriously miffed if a stranger had walked into my delivery room instead of my doctor after paying all that money!

It's just something to look into.

best of luck

Personally I didn't mind stickyone. When you book in they give you the years rota in advance so you know the deal. Your consultant is there for you during the week Mon-Fri, if you go into labour at a weekend they work 1 in about 4 weekends so you know that you will have someone else if it all kicks off Fri - Sun evening. In my case I knew Zoe wasn't going to be availble in advance and I met Mark beforehand. It will all very well managed and I was happy, and in fact I felt a lot more happy that it was Mark that actually delivered me once I met him.

Hopingforastickyone · 17/12/2011 23:24

Okie,

I'm glad you had such a positive experience with Johnson.

In my case, I received a list of my consultant's holiday dates as well as who would replace him in the event of an emergency. However, I was always under the impression that unless something really serious happenned (illness or extenuating family circumstances) that he would be delivering my baby.

I will double check when I see him next week.

They do at least have a consistent practice partner whom you will meet in advance if it seems likely. The Keith Duncan/Nick wales partnership is a very good one. Dr Patel must be quite new to the KW as she wasn't there when I delivered either of my 2.

I delivered with Roshni Patel seven weeks ago. She was recommended by one of my friends who had a baby a couple of years ago, so I guess she's been there for a while. I chose her after having met most of the others at the Kensington wing.
She is amazing and in my opinion she offers the best combination of experience and kindness.
I was really worried about the birth, but she took time talking and preparing me for it beforehand. Unfortunately, I ended up having an emergency section but because she was calm, it felt fine. Even my scar is really neat (and I've compared it with my friends). Overall, she made me feel that nothing was too much trouble and I will definitely book with her again next time.

I had elective C section 3 weeks ago with Roshni Patel. She is lovely and gave fantastic care during pregnancy also after I delivered my DD , because I experienced shivering on my fifth days I contacted her , she told me to go back to KW and get check out , well turn out is only my milk going to come . I am so glad that I chose her.
I am also happy with my scar . really neat and barely noticeable .

I delivered with Vasso Terzidou six weeks ago. She was fantastic!! We were super happy with her care. I can honestly say she was amazing, very pro vaginal delivery, really kind and supportive. Vasso put me on a drip as my contractions died off and four hours later I was fully dilated and pushed the baby out in 45 mins!!
She is the best and cannot recommend her enough :)
