SPD and early induction

Am off work due to very bad PGP - in crutches an codeine to help try to manage the pain. Due in 7 weeks.

How likely is it that I may be induced early (if it doesn't happen naturally) due to the pain/trouble with moving I have?

This is 3rd child but only had SPD mildly last time.
Thanks

Poor you! I was in your position this time last year with my third.

I think it depends on your consultant, mine was very against early induction unless the baby was in danger.
I was in so much pain I practically begged him at 37+6 weeks, I was also polyhydramnious and measuring 42+weeks, he refused but thankfully I went into labour that night.

Oh mediawhore, I feel your pain. I had horrendous spd which meant I had to have a section. I begged my consultant to take me in early but she pointblank refused. I was distraught. My section was scheduled for my due date and that was that. Like notso says, I think it varies between consultants. I hope the codeine brings you some comfort.

Thank you for your responses.

I am not seeing a consultant (should I be?), just the midwife I see every so often.

Maybe my next appt (at 36 weeks) more solid plans will be made!

Hi! I have had severe SPD since 20 weeks so requested to see the consultant to discuss birth options. They didn't want to give me a c-section but said they could induce me a week early if I want... basically if I can't take the pain for another week. I am just over 36 weeks now and have decided against a full on induction at 39... mainly because I think 1 week won't make too much difference (quite used to the pain now) and induction can be longer, more painful etc. Instead they are going to do a sweep at 39 weeks.. and then see how I get on. If he doesn't come then, might think about being induced at 40 weeks. Good luck! xx P.S Would recommend talking to them plus physio about best birthing positions for SPD..
