How long after natural birth (with no stitches) did you do it again?

First time around, I had a horrid long birth with an epistotomy and waited about 3 months I think before it was comfortable to have sex again.
This time I had a much better birth, have pretty much stopped bleeding and had no stitches ot complications. I wondered how long afterwards it would be ok to do it again comfortably and does it hurt the first time like it did with stitches or not?

i had 2 stitches that i could have chosen not to have (but i didnt like the idea of not having them)

3 weeks later everything was fine and pain free.

(I had a very very quick home birth..... i wasnt sure if i was in labour, midwife examined (me still not sure it was beyong earliest stages) i was 7cm, 20mins later i was a mummy!)

I waited until my 6 week check but mainly because I was knackered and it was a good excuse to keep OH away

probably would have been ok sooner

VodkaKnockers · 12/11/2011 19:26

2 weeks on both occasions.

I stopped bleeding around 10 days PP

MitziKinsky · 12/11/2011 19:27

When the bleeding stopped, so about 2 weeks each time.

Dee03 · 12/11/2011 19:29

With my last ds no stitches, straight forward birth waited 2 weeks

Choufleur · 12/11/2011 19:31

Very straight forward birth and no stitches. Waited til after 6 week check - like workshy good excuse to get sleep rather than do something energetic.

RandomMess · 12/11/2011 19:31

hmmm think it was days rather than weeks Blush

susiedaisy · 12/11/2011 19:35

God days!!! I was 6 weeks both times.

Allboxedin · 12/11/2011 19:43

....thanks, maybe I'm more feeling sorry for DH thank myself!
Did you feel much difference afterwards? I know I did feel 'gaping' when I first did it last time but it got better afterwards.
I had a 1st degree tear this time they did ask if I wanted stitches but said it wasn't necessary so I chose not to.

Day 3 with third baby. It was fine. On my instigation not his.

RandomMess · 12/11/2011 20:20

I think I was probably on a hormonal high and just thrilled to have sex without an absolutely massive 10lb bump in the way!

Iatemyskinnyperson · 12/11/2011 20:24

Withwoman holy crap! I was sown up like a patchwork quilt, I was not eager at all. It was months I'd say. First delivery left me with a bad episiotomy scar, was v painful.

When I went back to my consultant, he prescribed numbing gel Sad. Needles to say I didn't use it...

susiedaisy · 12/11/2011 21:15

Day 3!!!! isn't that suppose to be dangerous as the uterus hasnt closed and sperm can cause an infection ?

Iatemyskinnyperson · 12/11/2011 23:37

I thought there was some issue with air embolism too...

susiedaisy · 13/11/2011 13:23

yes thats sounds familiar as well iatemyskinnyperson its been a few years now since mine were born but i do remember the midwife stressing the importance of waiting a few weeks, maybe the advice has changed now?

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 14/11/2011 22:00

after a week, stopped bleeding after 5 days. will leave it longer this time

thegauntlet · 15/11/2011 18:44

day 10. Stopped bleeding and was although was a bit scared, it was ok. Funny really; whole of the last trimester I was gagging for it, but DH not keen at all. Then as soon as my milk came in ( watermelon norks) and my baps were out all the time he was unstoppable. Oh how it changes. in 2nd trimester now with DD2; cant be bothered at all !

PreggoEggo · 24/11/2011 17:35

3 weeks after DD2, couple of months after DD1

MrsOzz · 24/11/2011 20:01

I didn't have any grazes or stitches. But I still felt pretty tender, bruised and a bit swollen for a good week or more. About three more weeks and all bleeding and spotting had stopped. My bits felts more like my bits by this point.

After my 6 week check (which was delayed until I was 8 weeks) we had a bath together and that was the first time I felt comfortable letting DH near me again. We didn't have penetrative sex but that session made it clear I still 'worked' so to speak.

We had full penetration the following weekend. So 9 weeks after the birth.

I didn't feel 'gaping.' It was actually very nice as DH has never made love to me quite so delicately before. DD is now six months old and although I didn't have an pelvic floor issues, I am still doing the exercises and I think my fanjo is pretty much as good as it ever was - for both me and DH.

Xavielli · 27/11/2011 19:11

8 days. I've never had a great deal of pain down there after birth, for some reason I pull all the muscles in my neck! Hehe

nerfmum · 27/11/2011 19:12

months!!

MrsRhettButler · 27/11/2011 19:20

2 weeks both times, no pain just felt a bit 'tight' HTH

TheFeministsWife · 27/11/2011 19:22

1st time round, 6 weeks because I had a small tear. 2nd time around had a great birth no tears, so 8 days. Blush

MrsRhettButler · 27/11/2011 19:33

I could have had sex the day after dd2 as I had no pain whatsoever.

ginaribena · 29/11/2011 19:59

With a lot of effort on my part after about 6 weeks, and it took a while to get into the swing of things so to speak. I thing breast feeding hormones killed my libido, and having infant and small children all over my body all day long meant that honestly was not exactly what I fancied. Just being honest. Everything gets back to normal...gradually.
