Princess Royal or Queen Elizabeth - please help?!

Hi,

I have been given the option of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich or the Princess Royal University Hospital in Farnborough for delivery. Has anyone got any thoughts or had a baby at either of these hospitals? I have heard that PRUH is a bit better, but QE is closer so would love some advice?

Many thanks!

Have pm'd you. Both units are good, Midwifery Led Birthing Unit already established at the PRU and opening soon at the QE.

There's a MLU at the PRUH.
I'm having DC2 at the PRUH (not the MLU though as as don't meet the criteria Hmm )

I had DS at home and transferred to the PRUH for stitches then was in postnatal for 3 nights. I really did not enjoy it at all - mainly because of the food (if I can call it that). Terrible terrible terrible. Especially as I lost a lot of blood, was very weak and needed probably sustenance. Also was a nightmare trying to get discharged and to get help with BF. not sure if thats specific to the PRUH though from reading other experiences!

Hi redwitch and iggly sounds like there are good and bad points about both from what I have heard. Thanks for the advice. I had a tour of QE and wasnt hugely impressed, so hopefully can have a look around the PRU too. I qualify for the midwife unit.

Hi,

I have no experience of the QE, but I have had all my dc at the PRUH, the most recent one being on saturday and I can honestly say that the care I had at the PRUH before, during and after has been excellent, the midwifes have all been amazing and I could'nt have asked for a better experience.

HTH, and goodluck.
x

Thanks Lynsy that's really reassuring. I will check it out for sure.
