Ruptured membrane yesterday at 3a.m. Now what?

Yesterday at 3am my waters went with a gush and carried on leaking all through the night while I was having good strong contractions every 8 minutes or so, these soon went to about 3 or 4 minutes apart lasting 1 minute at a time, and then stopped. Today I have had intermittent cx every 4 - 6 minutes and stopping after around an hour or so, then starting again after half an hour.
I now have had no contractions for the past hour and am starting to panic. I am still leaking but not as much, and in the fluid there appears to be vernix that is not as wet as before. I don't even know if this is possible but am worried about it. Also the top of my bump feels quite flacid with the loss of fluid.
Am going to go in anyway to get checked over, but really worried. I have felt the baby moving but not sure if the same as usual because kids are being crazy and demanding my attention.
I was really determined about avoiding a c-section but now feel like begging for one, am that worried.
That is it really just wanted to let it out, don't want to say it all to dh, he will not cope..

Definitely go in asap - the cord can slip down through the cervix once waters have gone so you need to be examined.

fortyplus · 06/11/2011 17:48

Don't cry - it's daft to be at home worrying when a quick examination will put your mind at rest. Good luck Smile

The same happened to me with DS. Had to go in and be checked over then they sent me home for 2 days as I had to have antibiotics every 4 hours after that. They did say that 98% of women go into labour within 48 hours of membranes going. (I didn't!). Good luck xx

My waters started leaking at 2pm on the Friday, I had my son naturally on the Sunday at 4.50pm! He was completely healthy and good heartbeat etc the whole way through :)

I was the same effing , my waters went on the monday, DD2 was born on friday after induction with syntocin drip.

Hope everything goes well OP , go in and get checked. I look forward to reading the announcement! :o

Good luck mumble. My waters went first thing on a thursday morning & baby didnt arrive until 3am on the sunday. I'm guessing by now you will be in & hopefully either in full swing or holding your DC.

Go in. My waters started to leak with dc2 at about 4pm , went in to be examined ,then sent home and had contractions that just tapered off over night so I went in next morning, had a induction via drip and had my lovely ds at 10pm the following day. How many weeks are you?

ShowOfHands · 07/11/2011 10:08

My waters with dd broke and she was born 31hrs later by emcs.

With ds they broke, had contractions every 3 minutes but no real progress, no dilation. Just pointless contractions. 38hrs later I had a repeat cs as didn't want induction with the risk of rupture, having already had a longish labour and no progress. Good thing really as they found out during the cs that I have a twisted pelvis and can't deliver naturally..

Your stomach does feel weird with no waters, especially as the leaking tails off a bit and the water's about gone. Weird, flaccid, alien etc. Can be sore too.

Good luck, have a cry, get it out now.
