Induction - why sometimes earlier than 40+12?

Hi, I'm 39+6, so not officially due yet (as people keep reminding me!) but wondered why I was told by midwife that they wouldn't induce until I was 12 days late, but I see loads of people on here talking about being induced earlier. Don't yet me wrong, I really want a natural labour, but I'm really struggling at the moment. I can't sleep at all, I'm getting so anxious about the baby, and just feel like I'm mentally falling apart. The idea of another 2 weeks makes me want to crawl into a ball and cry!

I was induced early because I developed gestational diabetes.
Women can be induced early for this or other medical reasons affecting the mother, or if there is a concern for the baby, multiple births.

Quite a few reasons really but hope things start naturally for you soon.

i was induced 10 days early due to losing fluid and finding merconium in it. Not a good sign so needed to deliver.

You will look back and it won't seem like 5mins. Just try to get some sleep honey and enjoy other people cleaning and cooking for you for a bit

I was induced early because scans showed DDs growth had stopped so there was no use her being in my tummy any longer! Turned out my placenta stopped working.

I was induced at 40+5 because my waters went and I hadn't gone into labour within 48 hours.

I was induced early in both pregnancies (36 and 37 weeks) because my babies were failing to grow properly in the womb.

High blood pressure.

I was going to be induced at 40+7 because I kept getting contractions from 37 weeks and everytime they got 7 minutes apart they stopped!

My friend will be swept at 40+3 because she has epilepsy.

My sister now 5 days over has been told 40+12 at the earliest deending on beds/ available MW.
