Ouch, sounds horrid. Ask for referral for sure!

Make the GP swab the wound, and then you will get the right antibiotic.

How do you feel? Is it sore inside you?

posterofaghoul · 02/11/2011 00:38

I feel a bit sore all around the wound and inside. I was only saying on Sunday that I thought it looked really red. Sad

Poor you! I can sympathise as my scar popped a stitch and seemed to get bigger till it was a centimetre long and I needed two courses of antibiotics. It healed pretty well, though I've heard in some cases it can take a long time. I think you will be fine but get it treated ASAP. I was given two types of cefalexine tablets and some rifampicin spray which worked well. Best of luck!

Just wanted to add please get it seen immediately, not a referral that might take a week, if it's so long since your op, it needs to be checked immediately.

did you have dissolveable stitches? i had the exact same thing at 17wks post cs and it was my body trying to eject some 'thread' that hadn't dissolved properly.

somedayillbesaturdaynite · 02/11/2011 00:59

sorry, meant to add- mine appeared to be a sac of clear (not puss-like) bloody fluid inside the hole iyswim so if it doent look like that then prob not the same. hope you get it sorted x

somedayillbesaturdaynite · 02/11/2011 22:20

how did you get on with gp today?

posterofaghoul · 03/11/2011 00:24

Thanks all! GP has given me antibiotic cream and taken a swab. It seems to be getting worse and spreading down the scar though. It's still very shallow so the GP says it's unlikely to be internal, just a superficial infection.

Midwife is also keeping an eye on me as I called her first for an opinion.

Just have to wait and see for a bit Sad
