C section...peppermint water??!

Hi, I've read on a few threads about having peppermint water following c section to help with trapped wind. I've been googling this and can't seem to find recipes for this or where to buy it. Any ideas?! Would peppermint cordial or peppermint tea do the same job? How about the capsules? Confused Thanks!

I think mint tea would do the job

megcleary · 28/10/2011 17:39

got it on prescription from GP 10 mls with warm water was great post cs for wind

BagofHolly · 28/10/2011 19:20

Health food shops do it. I drank it by the gallon but I don't know that it made much difference.

VivaLeBeaver · 28/10/2011 19:23

You can get peppermint capsules, probably over the counter. Its what we use on the p/n ward for people with wind pain following surgery and I'd have thought it works better than water.

VivaLeBeaver · 28/10/2011 19:23

Here

mintec

I bought a load of the capsules at an extravagant price at Holland and Barratts (sp?) this weekend for this very reason.
Absolutely fucking HATE tea, let alone the herbal stuff, and so when I saw someone mention the pills I was straight along there, as the pain from trapped wind is horrendous. They are the first thing I've bought for my very first hospital bag!

They were about £6 I think.

Just remember...better out than in and have no shame about ahem, letting go whenever you need to

I blamed the baby. Or DH. Or just decided it was better than the horribleness of trapped wind [hgrin]

I knew nothing about trapped wind following CS, had my CS and oh my god I thought I had dislocated my shoulder, it was agony. The MW explained this was trapped wind Confused, gave me the peppermint water and it worked like magic. Amazing!

smokinaces · 01/11/2011 10:11

I had peppermint water in the hospital - was lovely hot, and really helped the wind pain.

Windeze capsules with the second (had a toddler running around, no chance of hot drinks) worked just as well

smokinaces · 01/11/2011 10:12

feast weirdly I completely forgot about the wind between sections. And they were only 19m apart!!

MistyMountainHop · 01/11/2011 10:18

Hi Just to let you peppermint in excess is known to reduce the amount of milk your producing. So everything in moderation :)
