I had dd 3 weeks ago and got a third degree tear. All feels ok but have an appointment in 3 weeks at the gynae clinic - what happens at this appointment?

they may, I emphasize 'may' do the bottom test...putting a finger up there and asking you to squeeze to prove you have control. they may not, who knows.
I had 3rd deg tear, dont think they even checked the stitched tbh

They had a look and a feel to check the stitches. They also asked about bowel and wee movements (no bum test though).

Be prepared to be examined basically!

I did start my pelvic floors almost immediately after giving birth which I think helped with healing.

Thanks - kind of had enough of finger up bum test after delivering - about 3 people came in and asked to do it -I didn't mind at the time - was a good excuse to suck on the gas and air!

No finger up the bum in my 6 week check-up thank god. Consultant just had a look, didn't even touch me - well only very slightly because I had a stitch coming out that I wanted him to remove, but no internal exam. Just questions about bladder and bowel control and asked if I had any problems.
