Has anyone tried inserting EPO directly into their vagina to help induce labour?
I have heard that two capsules can be inserted before sleeping, at term to help ripen the cervix.
Just wondered if anyone had any success with it.

Bumping for you as I'm also curious about this. Due for sweep at 38 weeks.

I did do it, only 1 capsule though. Had asked for mw to check my cervix at 38+4 and it was closed still, started using evening primes oil 'up there' at that point, and gave birth on my due date. No idea if it had anything to do with it, but I was willing to give anything a try! Just make sure you wear a pad, I got bits of capsule and a fair bit of oil in my underwear from doing it!

Hi Ladies

I used EPO for about 5 days and I think it made a difference, I was told my cervix was tight and not ready so I took EPO 3 times a day orally 2 - 3 capsules a day and put 2 up my * plus I had sex which helped it more.

It worked for me I think.

Good luck and Congrats

Thanks Rockchick and shocked will give it a go at 37 weeks I think. Really want sweeps to work. Desperate to avoid another emcs/ cs!
Also planning to start to use a few drops of clary sage in bath at around this time. (Almost at 35 weeks so getting excited and nervous now)

I took EPO orally for about 5 days and on day 5 I think I took 2 by accident - show followed a couple of hours later and 8 hours later DD2 arrived!

PorkChopSter · 30/10/2011 15:05

Yes - for DC3 and 4 who were born at 40+4 and 40+4hours. DC1 and 2 were 42 weekers. The most difficult thing is getting the capsules in range of your cervix at that point.

1000mg last thing at night (wear a pad).

hi there,
I took them orally from 36 to 38 + 3 and then inserted two everynight vaginally from then and i went 11days overdue lol i think just like all the other things that women try, the baby will come when ready :) i no thats not what you want to hear and im due in 6weeks and its not what i want to hear either lol good luck

Our MW recommended this and said their hospital has 80% success rate when inserting EPO.

I didn't need it because DD was bprn a week early BUT I had been drinking Raspberry Leaf Tea and taking the tablets (the tea on it;s on is not strong enough apparently).

Clary Sage is worth a try too.
