Hello, hoping someone out there can put my mind at rest. I'm 40weeks today (2nd preg), had a show yesterday & think irregular contractions started last night. but have had what i hope is just another 'show' this am.
first preg had emerg c/s & exper'd nothing of labour etc so completely clueless. hesitant to call hosp. as hoping for vbac & just know they will tell me 2 come in ,keep me in & wire me up.

CAN ANYONE HELP?

Oh yum, poor you, know exactly how you feel as it sounds just like my labour. you will get there.

sending you big hugs {{{{}}}}

Yum - have you tried paracetamol?

It's a good sign if your waters don't break - means the baby is cushioned more for labour. Contractions can be much more painful if your waters break early. You will get there Yum. Do you have a shower - warm water running down your back can be soothing.

Yum - I agree with Mears - keep you waters intact if you can ! And also a hot shower.
Are you envisaging using a birth pool? Some hospital will allow VBAC to use the pool - it can be such great pain relief as you can VERY easily squat in the water and when ypu have back pain.... that's great. Hang in there baby is nearly there !

Oh Yum, we are all cheering for you. How you describe your CTX now is how mine were only hours before my baby was born (ie., lying down made them worse and walking/standing around made them better); don't know if hearing that is going to cheer you up or not. And a person can dilate something like 7 cm in as little as 20 minutes so don't get too bothered about only 1cm. If you go to hospital and you still don't "progress" after lots of interventions you'll only feel worse. What else can you do to distract yourself? I always turn on the radio and listen to the stupid politicians pontificating about something....
