4 csections??

I have 3 lovely children all born via c section with no problems we are thinking about baby no 4 is it heard of to have more than 3 c sections and does it have more risks thankyou x

i think you are better off asking a mw on that, but as far as i have heard you are only allowed 3, your hospital may be different so asking them would be a wise choice :) hope you and your children are well x

the consultant i saw when i was booking in for my third c-section told me he'd had lots of women in for their 4th and 5th c-sections!! Qudos to you for considering it, you're a braver woman than me!

I had my 4th in January.
According to my MW, there used to be a limit on numbers when the cs was up the tummy (don't know the technical term!) as it was a much more unstable place to have it.
From the research I did, once you've had 2 cs, the risks stay the same, but I suppose get more likely as you are taking the risk again (hopefully that makes sense!)
My surgeon said the cs itself is the easy part, though they will take their time to go in for the baby and take 20 minutes as opposed to 5-10 minutes it normally takes.
My fourth was my easiest pregnancy, easiest cs and easiest recovery.
Im sure a MW would talk you through it before you made any decisions.

I've had four - last one was in June, no problems at all. After my last one consultant said that my uterus was in "great condition" ! and she wouldn't advise against another pregnancy if I wanted one :)

My sister has just had her fourth (fifth child).The consultant sterilsed her after the baby was delivered as he said her uterus was very scarred.

She was happy to have a fifth baby though and feels that she's finished!

I'm confused, I thought you couldn't safely have a Vbac after 2 or 3 sections? So if someone was pregnant would they just tell them to keep their legs together as they can't have either?

My Mum had her first in the early 70's, her fourth in the 80's.

Well, they'd have to carry out a section, however many you'd had before, if that was what they thought was the safest method of delivery (no "allowed" about it!)

I do not have any medical qualifications, but I thought the risks arising from a multiply-scarred uterus can arise at any time in pregnancy - placental issues (if attached over scar - possible lower function leading to growth issues, greater risk of abruption), and risk of rupture.

You need individual advice, friend had 5 CSs and would have gone for 6.
Another friend had 3 emergency CS that seemed alright, finally had an elective CS with the 4th and it was a nightmare. So weigh things up carefully.

My friend was told to stop after 3 but went ahead and had her 4th and the surgeon said it was one of the easiest he had ever done.
