Went to a coffee morning today and people remarked that my belly is still really high and the baby doesn't seem to have dropped. Last 3 visits to midwife all say baby's head 2/5 engaged. Beginning to feel like she doesn't want to budge!

Had anyone gone from a position like this to labour in a relatively short time? Can they suddenly shift down, or am I in for a long haul?

I was high right to the end With my dd1 and I had her on my due date

Yes, some women do drop at the last minute, as it were. A midwife told me this is particularly true of black Caribbean women and others with high narrow pelvises.

Don't worry, they tend to come out in the end!

Oh, and if it helps: my midwife examined me at 40 weeks and said my cervix was really tight and I'd be going overdue. I was in labour within about 36 hours.

I was 2 weeks over with all 3 of mine.....told myself they come out healthier cos they are "cooked" properly
