Bright red bleed 5 weeks after birth

Just a quick question, I am bleeding heavily today bright red with no pain. My LO was born 5 weeks ago. My bleeding had reduced to nearly nothing a week ago. I am exclusively breast feeding so wasn't expecting a period. Could it be a period?

Have you been for a long walk today or carried something heavy etc? Physical strain can cause the lochia to become heavier again. It'd come out anyway but because of the strain it gushes out. sorry that was probably a bit graphic!

I'm not a doc btw, I just remember it happening with me and it being quite normal according to my HV.

If you haven't done anything straining, I'm not sure.

I had a very busy day yesterday and did lots of walking around do maybe it's just that. Thanks for your quick response.

I used to get this a lot .....you are over doing it. you need to REST.
