Worried about DH driving home too fast if I have to call him at work

This may sound silly but I really worry that my DH will drive too fast partly from nerves and partly excitement if I have to call him at work when labour starts. I have talked to him about it and he says of course I know he will drive quickly but will of course be safe (he is an excellent driver) but I half think that I might need to fib to him a bit about what stage I will be at. I don't want to call him and find that it is false labour but don't want to leave it too late. When contractions do start how quickly did they develope to the 7 or 8 min apart stage?, he has a 45 min drive - at normal speed!

If it's your first baby it could be hours, even days! But no one can really tell some people have fast labours. I was induced with every means possible and it still took a good few hours

It's not like tv and films!! With DS1 it was 8 hours between waters breaking and him being born. There is a lot of hanging about. You may well get crampy twinges before proper labour starts. 45 minutes is loads of time!
