question about back to back labour

for those of you whose babies were back to back in your first labour, were subsequent babies also back to back?
my 1st was back to back and have heard that this could mean it's more likely my next one will be too.
Really hope not...

Rubbish.

It is possible of course but generally you're all a bit less tight for the second one and the baby can move around a bit better.

I don't know what pain relief you had with your 1st but I needed nothing, not even gas and air with my second because not once did it ever reach the levels of pain I experienced with my first.

It was quite frankly easy peasy.

Both my babies were back to back and v badly positioned. Despite doing optimal fetal positioning etc, both ended up as emergency c/s.

I really hope that things are different for you 2nd time around hummm. but it was my experience that things were exactly the same. I don't think there is any hard and fast rule normally, but I think in my case anatomy may have something to do with it, but without a pelvic x-ray I'll never know.

I wish it had been "easy peasy"

One was (second baby of twins) and so far this one is too (33 weeks).

Hoping he moves soon as having a singleton birth I am not guaranteed an epidural!

Same experience as sunchild. 2 very badly positioned babies- 2nd emcs 4 days ago- but I was told the opposite to you ie that it was UNlikely to happen twice. General medical consensus is my pelvis doesn't allow vaginal delivery.

watching with interest as my ds was back to back.

I was back to back, but then my sister was a v straightforward easy delivery even though she was 10lb 10oz! But then my brother was OP again.

All 3 of my DC were back to back but each labour was about half the time of the last so at least it was easier in that respect. The ward sister when I had DD2 (DC3) said without looking at my notes or examining me that baby was back to back as my tummy button hadn't popped out.

Congratulations Show of Hands :) Sorry to hear about 2nd emcs though, I know how that feels! I hope it was a much better experience for you this time though. (I remember reading about your first ) Hope you are recovering well and enjoying your lovely newborn :)

Oh ShowOfHands I didn't know you'd had another. Congratulations and bloody well done as I know how hard it would have been and how worrying the pregnancy must have been.

I cincerely hope that the second time experience was much better for you, even with an emergency ceasarian birth.

Consultant told me that you can have subsequent back to back labours, as it can be down to the shape of your pelvis......DD was, and I'm now 36 wks and hoping this one won't be....

Hiya, my dd was back to back while I was in labour, the midwife suggested sitting on my yoga bal and rolling my hips around on it for as long as I could; I was sceptical but it worked, it turned her around within hours :)
