Hi, couple of questions. If your waters broke at home how soon after did contractions start? and how many people had contractions start during the day as it seems to have only happened at night to my friends?

Hi cabdr
My contractions started well before my waters broke. Contractions started at 11:30am on Thursday, Waters broke 10:15pm Friday (at home), DS born in hospital at 1:26am Saturday.

Wish I'd had a longer lie in on Thursday, because I got no sleep until saturday night. But all in all not too bad for a first baby Wink

My waters broke at 7pm on a Tuesday at 41+1, but the contractions didn't start until noon on Thursday whilst waiting for a labour suite slot to be augmented.

My waters broke at 3.30pm and contractions started about 6.30pm. DD born at 11.15pm!

I'm due with no 2 in a week (though have a strong suspicion I'm a lot closer to blast off than that) and rather hoping my waters break again first this time, as it gives you a good warning that everything's started. If they don't break first this time, I'm going to have to figure out for myself when I'm actually in labour!

My waters broke about 6.30/7pm and contractions started about 8.30/9pm. Was 10cm dilated by 2am! (First baby).

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 30/08/2011 23:00

Waters went at 2pm. Was waiting for a bed on labour suite for augmentation as Gp B Strep +ve but started contracting at 7:30pm. By 11pm was 4cm - 10cm by 1am, DD hauled out by forceps at 2am as distressed.

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 30/08/2011 23:00

Also first baby!

acatcalledfelix · 30/08/2011 23:02

First contraction then waters went 35 mins later. Was at home in bed (1am).

TinkerTailorSoldierLibrarian · 30/08/2011 23:04

My waters popped spectacularly with no warning during dinner and contractions started at about 10.30pm that night. Then had a 2 day labour and finally an emcs.

Jbck · 30/08/2011 23:10

DD2 Waters broke 3.35am, contractions started just after 4.00am. On EDD, born with forceps assistance 4.55pm that day. No Braxton Hicks, false alarms or anything beforehand.

harrygracejessica · 31/08/2011 00:39

Waters popped with 2nd preg and contractions started straigtaway. 3rd preg had a couple of whopper contractions then waters went straight into contractions every 2-3 mins.

stegasaurus · 03/09/2011 12:47

Waters broke about 2.45am and contractions started within a hour. DD born at 9.25am.

KateBC · 03/09/2011 13:03

Waters broke at 5pm, contractions were already going when I got to hospital, but didn't feel them until about 10pm. Went back to hospital at 2am and DS born at 7am.

londonmackem · 03/09/2011 13:16

Waters broke 2am Saturday - never had any contractions. Induced by syntocin drip Monday 11am.

queenrollo · 03/09/2011 13:22

waters broke 2.30am, contractions started about 6am. Was 6cm by 9am and DS arrived at 12.12pm.

working9while5 · 03/09/2011 13:35

Similar to Londonmackem, waters went 4am, assessed at hospital at 9am following morning and asked to come back for induction 24 hours later (9 am on 40+12), ds was born 17 hours and 20 minutes later!

I'd had contractions on my due date. I was very ready to have my baby 12 days later!
