Has anyone with HMS or EDS been told to have a c section and recommended not to go to 40 weeks?

Basically as it says in the title.

I'm not coping with the pain and have been forwarded to the psychiatric team as they think I am going to end up with PND.

They also told me that they do not recommend I birth naturally and not to go to 40 weeks.

Does anyone else have any experience with this?

TIA.

i have HMS (not EDS) but am only 17ish weeks so not having any pain. mild sacrum discomfort and that's about it. i have had a lot of physio in prep for pregnancy... used to have a lot of pain.

no-one has said a word to me about not going to 40 weeks, and c-section has been offered (not purely because of HMS, other issues are present), but not pushed in the slightest.

certain subtypes of EDS make a VB risky... do you know what type you are?

you must be feeling quite shit, i hope you are ok.

Hi Beachblue - yup check out Oikopolis's thread. I have HMS and posted about my experiences of giving birth (horrifying and multiple birth injuries). Had I seen the uro-gynae repairing me before giving birth, he would have advised ELCS. As to not going to 40 weeks or not, I don't know. If I have another child after he's finished doing the repairs, he says he would do an early ELCS certainly by 38 weeks.

(Waves to oikopolis!)
