Are second babys late or ealry?

Hi,
I am due with my second baby today (26/11/05). My first baby was 5 days late and I was in labour for 18 hours!
I have read lots that says my second labour should be alot shorter that last time but cant find anyone saying whether there is more chance of this one coming a bit sooner.
I am at the stage of thinking that my baby will be in there forever (which I know it won't) and am worried that it will be later than my first.
Does anyone have any experience of earlier or later second babies?

dd2 was 1 week earlier than dd1, and dd3 was induced early so i couldnt really tell you if she would've been earlier than dd2 (was induced 2 weeks early, but was 3-4cm dilated already)

Mine all came about a week early. Good luck. It feels like such a slog at the end doesn't it.

my second was three weeks early and labour from 1st twinge to baby was less than 1 hour. good luck

Hi there my midwife always advised me that they tend to follow the same pattern usually.I was a week over with all three of mine! Its horrid when your due day comes youve waited all that time and feel thats it never going to come out!! Enjoy your last few days of sleep!!

mumofelise! That's pretty sudden.

dd1 was 11 days later by the hospitals date, but on arrival they said she was more like 11 days + early and dd2 arrived on her due date.

dd1 was 11 hours and dd2 30 minutes from start to finish.

I have mixed emotions on this, DD was 16 days early would love this one to be early too but I'm only allowed a homebirth if I get to 39 weeks (it's their policy only to provide 3 weeks cover).

Mumofelise - I'll take your labour though hopefully mine will be short DD was 4 hours!

Oh blimey i have been wondering this myself i am now 32 weeks & getting to the point of had enough already.

Ds was 10 days late and a 16hrs labour so what the hell will i get this time round i keep wondering?

Please not another 10 days late that was a total killer !

when my second was born, my first was 13 months. i think that may have been a factor in my v, short labour. only thing was no time for any pain relief, i had two puffs of gas and air to get me onto the bed and then i was left to bite down on the mouthpiece.

both of mine late

dd 14 days late and over 30 hours

ds 12 days late and 6 and half hours.

so yes a bit earlier and a lot quicker for me!

DD was 13/14 days over - went into labour in hospital whilst waiting to be induced. Long long labour, epidural, syntocin and pushed for 3 hours and had ventouse delivery. Lots of stitches.

DS was 5 days early - went into labour in hospital again waiting to be induced - this time for high bp/protien in urea levels. Labour was 6 hours start to finish and had gas and air only. No stitches etc.

Ist induced early
2nd 14 days early naturally
3rd 10 days late naturally

Don't think you can predict it really. As my MW said, babies do what they like.

ds was 3 days late, 20hour labour
dd was 10days late, induced and long early stage but 1 1/2 hour active/2nd stage.

My ds1 was born on his due date after a 18hr labour (right from the first twinge) my ds2 was a 4 hr labour and two days late.

DD1 5 weks early. quick ish labour (didn't realise \I was really in labour!)

DD2 9 days late, 2 sweeps, 5 houyr slabour, roughly!

DD1 was a day early, dd2 a week early. Mind you, my younger brother was 2 weeks late.
