Hi all. I'm due to go in for a cesarian soon as how long my baby is apparently very big (gestational diabeties). I know this leads to a longer hospital stay. So I wanted to ask everyone who'se had a cesarian:
How long are you in for
How many baby outfits do you need in that time?

Thanks in advance.

I was in for a week. Hopsital policy to keep c section ladies in for 4 days, but by then DS needed to stay in. I think I took 4 vests and 4 sleepsuits, but DH bought in fresh clean ones every day - clean nighties and clothes for me too.

The thing to remember is that you won;t shrink back to normal size straight away, so you will need maternity clothes to go home in. But also "under bump" = "on the scar", so you need dresses or over bump stuff.

thanks so much for the advice BikeRunSki. I'll pack accordingly

Get yourself some GIANT knickers that come up to your waist otherwise the elastic sits on scar. oweee. I don't know if you allowed to drink it but I would also reccomend large quantities of sugar free redbull because at my hospital, at 8pm the partners were kicked out. Good luck!

Definitely big knickers, don't go anywhere near the paper ones.

Silky satin pjama bottoms so you can slither in and out of bed easily.
Big bottles of water, and a bottle of cordial. The whole thing is thirsty work!
Snacks you can eat in bed - oaty bar things
Water/alcohol spray - wards are like saunas
Slippers you can shuffle into.

Baby outfits - I didn't take (or buy!)anywhere near enough and had to send dp out to buy more. It's amazing how fast you can get through them. I'd plan up to 3 changes of clothes (vest and sleepsuit) for the baby per day - but if you've got someone at home who can bring new ones in each day you don;t need to pack them all at the start.

Check hospital policy - consultant told me I'd be out in 2 days. I was a bit worried as having CS plus twins so 2 days was scarey. MW said I can stay longer as it's a mw led ward I'll be in. I'm just taking basics including night dress (as will have a catheter to start with so PJs won't work) and PJs and a few babygros but twins might be small so dh has instructions as to where to get prem clothes from.

I've got a face spray from body shop and plan to buy arnica ASAP.
