Anyone used a "birth reflections" type service??

I have arranged an appointment with the "birth reflections" midwife to discuss my EMCS, carried out under GA after a placental abruption. I don't really know what to expect or what they may discuss. Has anyone else done this type of thing?

at mine the midwife (not one that was present at delivery) had my notes, we went through them, she explained why things were done the way they were and I got to ask any questions I had. My notes weren't exactly detailed though so I couldn't get all the info I wanted but it definitely helped.

Thanks for that. I had decided against it, but 6 months on and I am still plagued with "why did they....." and thought I should give it a go. Good to hear it helped you ninjagoose.

Peppa, I would say go for it!

The midwife will spend some time looking through your notes before hand to work out in her mind what happened, then will spend quite some time with you, going through the various entries putting them into layman's language for you.

Sometimes when decisions are made swiftly, it can be quite shocking for the woman in question. To go through your notes really will help put some perspective on what happened. Hopefully it will give you peace.

Yes, my crash section was totally shocking, and I clearly still haven't coem to terms with it! Not because it was a CS (had a previous ELCS) but because I think they should have diagnosed my abruption that little bit earlier, which may have made it slightly better i.e. I may have been able to sign a consent form and not just knocked out without realising what was going on. Think I will have to go for it and perhaps get that peace!
